GIVE During the Holidays

Christmas is one of the most joyous and highly anticipated times of the year. Many people spend weeks planning the best Christmas party, buying the ugliest Christmas sweater, or making the perfect eggnog. This time of the year seems to be reserved for family get-togethers, children’s plays, and taking a picture with Santa. Neatly wrapped gifts are nestled under a tree covered in tinsel, ornaments, and lights as neighborhoods are transformed into a lighted spectacle. This truly is the most wonderful time of the year!

But the real reason for this season goes beyond mistletoe and eggnog. Across the country there are millions who can’t share in this merriment. They barely have enough for a meal and may not have a warm place to stay. They need someone to find it in their heart to help them. They want to believe in miracles but they will need people like you to bring it to them.

This is why volunteering is vital this holiday season. It is in giving that one truly makes Christmas what it is meant to be. Christmas is not about getting the best electronic device, it’s about giving the best of you to someone else. If all you can give someone is an hour of your time, that maybe the best gift that anyone could ask for. Volunteering is a gift to those served and a reward to those serving. It makes the world a better place for us all.
